In a small city in the north east of Morocco called Taza and in the early morning of July 2nd,1972 Abdelkarim benlaayouni was born. A.Karim is the 8th child of a family made of 9 members. Karim is the one but last.

A.Karim spent a severe childhood under a strong control of his father who was very religious and strict about his children's education. At the age of five he enrolled in a traditional kindergarden "Msid" wherein he received the bases of writing and language but religious studies were the base in the sense that Coran recitation/ learning was a daily duty. Later at the age of 7 he started his endless educational trip in "Khaled Benel Waleed" elementary school for 5 years, then 4 years in "Al Ahd Al Jadid" junior high school. In 1990 he got his High School degree (Bacalaureat) English language Option (Preformation Anglaise) from "Ibn Alyassamin" high school always in his home town.

Karim's university studies started in 1991 at Mohamed I university in Oujda wherein he spent 4 years at the English department majoring in English linguistics. He graduated in 1995 from the same university.

After university graduation and because of lack job opportunities as well as a Moroccan law limiting high studies, Karim found himself standing in his father's shop making commerce and leaving all English and linguistics behind him. But as usual he did not surrender, Karim started to study by himself and he applied as a free candidate for the High School certification again which he got in 1996 in Literature and applied at the university of Fez to continue his Juridical studies in the faculty of law. In the same year he had an opportunity to apply for high studies in a special program similar to Master course at Mohamed V University in the capital Rabat and thus he stopped the law studies in Fez especially that he was studying at his own expenses without scholarship.

The Year 1996 can be considered a year of success by excellence to Karim because in this year he got his second high school degree, he got the C.E.C (Certificat des Etudes Complementaire) somehow equivalent to the master degree. Moreover he succeeded in the entrance exam for the Normal school of teachers  E.N.S (Ecole Normale Superieure) Taquadoum fom which he graduated in 1997 as a high school teacher of English.

Karim's career started by a very long trip from his hometown in the north east and his places of study and graduation in the west to be oppointed to work in the south of Morocco; In Guelmim: the Moroccan Sahara Gate. A totally different culture, a totally different weather... The news was a disaster as he had no idea about the place but lately he spent some of the best moments in that peaceful city with which he identified and made so many relationships; he loved and was loved by the citizens of Guelmim and spent seven years at Bab Sahara High School with all its contradictions. Nowadays Karim is working as a part time teacher of English in the department of English at Ibn Zohr university. Moreover he is a high school teacher of English at Houmman Fatouaki High School in Dchira/ Agadir.

Doing research and ameliorating his social and intellectual position has always been one of Karim's greatest concerns:In December 2003 he took part in the professional exam of teacher but kept waiting for the results for almost a year with rumors and expectations. In April 2004 he applied for a two years scholarship in Japan and he was one of only two to be admitted after the exam at the Japanese embassy. Neither Karim nor his surrounding believed the news but it was decided. The day of the trip was also too special since he left his family and took his luggage heading towards the Airport of Casablanca. In his way to the Airport he received a Phone call saying that he passed the professional exam he applied for the previous years. Was it a miracle or a coincidence? No one knows...

Karim spent a year and half in Osaka Japan as a researcher. He studied Japanese language Osaka University for six month then he moved to make research at Osaka Kyoiku University (University of education). He also worked as a teacher of English in two Japanese elementary schools and made many visits to high schools and participated in many conferences and congresses.

In addition to his professional life and researches, . Karim is very interested in traveling and he has been in many countries: France, Holland, Japan, China, Thailand, Quatar...
